Show Dem Camp Fan-Favorite Album Suddenly Disappears From Popular Music Streaming Services Amidst Royalty Controversy

Show Dem Camp, a Nigerian rap duo, have confirmed that their acclaimed 2018 album “Palmwine Music 2” was temporarily removed from popular streaming services due to a dispute over royalties with one of the project’s contributing artists.

The dispute reportedly started when a featured artist on the Palmwine Music 2 album sought a bigger share of royalties from one song many years after its release. The ongoing dispute could not be resolved straight away, leading to the decision to remove the album on a temporary basis while legal and financial issues were being dealt with.

“The song achieved success, and several years later, the artist returned and asked for more,” the duo explained in a recent interview. “We took a step back in order to safeguard the integrity of the project while we dealt with the legal aspects.”

The incident draws attention to a persistent issue in the music industry, particularly in Africa, where collaborations between musicians frequently involve unclear long-term arrangements for royalties and intellectual property rights.

Palmwine Music 2 has now been reinstated on various streaming services, including Spotify, Apple Music, and Audiomack, following several days of their absence from these platforms. The updated version now includes eight tracks in place of nine, with the notable absence of the popular collaboration Tropicana featuring Flash. The centre of the dispute is allegedly occupied by the song.

Fans have commended Dem Camp’s choice to re-release the rest of the album, minus the contentious track, as a testament to their professionalism and dedication to safeguarding the Palmwine Music series’ heritage.
