Sheck Wes – ILMB ft. Travis Scott

Sheck Wes hasn’t released a lot of music under the Travis Scott-led Cactus Jack label recently, but fortunately, his June 2024 single “Beast” was no one-off success. The two artists collaborated in the studio once more, releasing the slow and nighttime-themed “ILMB” this week, which they had previously showcased extensively on social media and in live performances. The game’s rules are straightforward: they include blunt and casual lyrical style, powerful bass beats that overpower, a murky and undefined background sound, and a decently disorienting appearance by La Flame.

The flows of the two rappers complement each other nicely on this track, particularly when they elaborate on the kick drum pattern with a more melodic approach that matches the phrasing. While this release may not be a groundbreaking one from either artist, it marks the beginning of a series of significant ones that fans are eagerly anticipating. Travis Scott is set to release an album, the nature of which remains unclear – whether it will be a new solo effort or the forthcoming JACKBOBS 2 compilation, featuring Sheck Wes and the remaining artists from Cactus Jack. The specifics surrounding these releases are still somewhat ambiguous, yet fans are thankful for the numerous engaging storylines to follow.
