During a discussion about the high fees charged by Nigerian artists, Shallipopi conveyed his perspective in an interview with News Central TV. He highlighted that an artiste’s worth should be aligned with the success and popularity of their music.
In his Advice to Artistes, Shallipopi challenged the notion that Nigerian artists are overcharging for the local market. He argued that artists with streaming numbers comparable to those of American musicians should have similar fee structures. Shallipopi explained:
“It depends on your music and where it has gotten; that is what your price is going to be. If your music has achieved the same streaming success as an American artist, you should be charging similarly. However, if it hasn’t reached that level, overcharging is not justified. That’s just my advice to artistes.”
