Seun Kuti Responds To Allegations Of Seeking Attention Related To Wizkid

Afrobeat musician Seun Kuti has responded to allegations suggesting he is leveraging Wizkid’s name for attention, labeling the claims as unfounded and disrespectful to his established career.

In a video shared online, the artist addressed Wizkid’s fans who accused him of seeking publicity, stating that his career has never required revival. Seun supported his position with statistics, noting that he performed at 82 international shows in 2025 alone.

He indicated that his music continues to connect with audiences globally, as demonstrated by sold-out performances in Australia, Europe, America, and Brazil.

“Some people are saying I am trying to use Wizkid to revive my career,” Seun stated. “When did my career die for me to be trying to revive it? Last year alone, I did 82 shows globally. I sold out shows in Australia, Europe, America, and Brazil. I have fans of my music worldwide.”

Using a metaphor, the son of Afrobeat legend Fela Anikulapo-Kuti underscored that success is not a confined space.

“I call myself Big Bird because the sky is big for everybody. No matter how big you are, you can’t occupy the whole sky,” he elaborated. “People whose careers need revival know themselves. It is not me.”

Seun’s remarks have ignited discussions online about endurance, relevance, and respect among various generations of Nigerian music artists.
