Seun Kuti Intensifies Dispute With Wizkid On Day 7 of Call-Outs

Afrobeats singer Seun Kuti has continued his public dispute with Wizkid, stating that it has reached the seventh day of his criticisms against the Grammy-winning artist and his fan base, known as Wizkid FC.

In an Instagram Live session on Wednesday, January 21, 2025, Seun Kuti made further remarks about Wizkid, labeling the singer and his supporters as “the biggest clout chasers in Nigeria.”

He proceeded to curse Wizkid, asserting that the artist would not find success again unless he replaced the tattoo of Afrobeat legend Fela Anikulapo Kuti on his arm with one of his biological father.

This latest incident follows alleged comments from Wizkid, in which he purportedly called Seun Kuti “a fool at forty,” ridiculed his use of a ring light for addressing Wizkid FC, referred to him as “hungry,” and claimed superiority over Fela Kuti.

In response, Seun accused Wizkid of holding resentment toward Fela despite having his likeness tattooed. He argued that Wizkid lacks originality and does not draw inspiration from his own heritage.

Seun also criticized Wizkid’s various stage names, including Wizkid, Big Wiz, Machala, and Big Bird, alleging that the “Big Bird” moniker was taken from him, referring to his Instagram handle @bigbirdkuti.

In a contrasting stance, Seun expressed his support for Burna Boy, wearing a chain that he claimed was given to him by the Grammy-winning singer. He commended Burna Boy for recognizing that Fela Anikulapo Kuti is the only artist greater than himself.

Seun further questioned Wizkid’s choice to tattoo Fela instead of his own father, claiming that both the artist and his fan base do not appreciate local influences.

He also mentioned that Wizkid has been largely inactive musically in recent months and has not secured any show bookings, although he did not provide evidence for this assertion.

Additionally, Seun cautioned Asake, advising him to be wary after the release of his joint EP with Wizkid. He suggested that Wizkid often seeks attention by collaborating with other artists.

Seun Kuti concluded the live session with further insults directed at Wizkid, but indicated that he would not engage with the artist or his fan base any longer, stating that he had achieved his goal. He noted that his focus has since shifted to preparing for his upcoming performances later this year.
