Rory – Off Road ft. Masego, & Freddie Gibbs

Rory Off Road ft. Masego Freddie Gibbs

Co-host of the New Rory & MAL podcast, Rory Farrell, is renowned for sharing his thoughts on hip-hop. The former Joe Budden Podcast employee also works as a producer and manager. The two titles originated from previous experience at a music label. He currently assists the indie duo Emotional Oranges with managing their work.

Today’s focus is on the producing process, as Rory’s new single “Off Road” is now available. The album includes features from R&B artist Masego and rapper Freddie Gibbs from Gary, Indiana. Rory is more closely associated with Masego’s sphere than Gibbs’, even though he is deeply rooted in the rap world.

“Off Road” remains within that sonic landscape, albeit a more alternative one. The film is a vague portrayal of casual relationships, love, and finding that summer fling. Freddie and Masego also caution listeners to steer clear of certain girls, even if they appear attractive at first.

Rory’s production features a mellow tone, incorporating horns, snappy percussion, and dreamy synth patterns. The song has a catchy beat, but it still maintains the desired atmosphere “Off Road” is aiming for.

His final single, “WHO ARE YOU ANYWAY?”, which featured Leon Thomas, shared a comparable tone in both the lyrics and the production. This has us speculating that something larger may be on the horizon. It’s now been two years since the release of Rory’s debut album, I Thought It’d Be Different.
