Contrary to the rumors circulated since Sunday (Feb. 23), JAY-Z and Beyoncé are not taking legal action against Rihanna and ASAP Rocky.

A weekend screenshot circulating on X revealed two outstanding legal proceedings in the United States. The District Court of the Virgin Islands. A report indicates that JAY-Z is implicated in a case against ASAP Rocky, with a court hearing scheduled for March 8. Meanwhile, another report suggests that Beyoncé is expected to face off against Rihanna in court on the same day.

One commenter suggested that this might be the initial publicity event for Rihanna’s upcoming album. Beyoncé files lawsuits so infrequently that this situation must be quite significant. It didn’t take long for social media to expose the misinformation, with one of the key indicators being the incorrect spelling of Rihanna’s given name, Robyn Rihanna Fenty, as “Robin”.

A short while afterwards, Roc Nation coincidentally posted on Twitter, “Don’t be dumb,” which ironically coincides with the title of ASAP Rocky’s upcoming studio album, scheduled for release later in 2025. Although not a direct answer, JAY-Z’s management company also shared a post on social media about Rihanna’s new Fenty Beauty products.

JAY-Z and ASAP Rocky have faced a significant number of recent legal problems.

Rocky and Hov are riding high after recent legal victories. A native of Harlem was found not guilty by a Los Angeles jury on February 18 for two counts of firearm assault related to a 2021 incident involving him and former friend Terell “ASAP Relli” Ephron. The defendant was potentially facing a sentence of up to 24 years in prison. His defence maintained that the “warning shots” in question were blanks fired from a prop gun, a claim that ultimately benefited his case.

A lawsuit alleging sexual assault against JAY-Z and Diddy was dismissed with prejudice on February 14. The Reasonable Doubt artist counterattacked by filing a lawsuit against Tony Buzbee, the lawyer representing the plaintiff.

Given the challenges the rappers have faced, it’s likely they would prefer to avoid legal issues at this time.
