Rihanna Responds To A$AP Rocky’s ‘Don’t Be Dumb’ Reaching The Top Of The Billboard 200 Chart

A$AP Rocky’s album Don’t Be Dumb debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart, garnering excitement from both the rapper and his fans, including Rihanna. On January 25, she congratulated him on the album’s success, sharing her enthusiasm in a tweet that highlighted his achievement.

According to Billboard, the album sold 123,000 album-equivalent units, which included 76,000 from streaming-equivalent units, amounting to approximately 78 million on-demand streams, and 47,000 from traditional sales.

The standard streaming version of Don’t Be Dumb features 15 tracks along with two bonus songs, including a collaboration with Tyler, The Creator. Additionally, on January 21, Rocky released two extra tracks: “FLACKITO JODYE,” featuring Tokischa, and “I Smoked Away My Brain (I’m God x Demons Mashup).”

For the vinyl release, Rocky offered more than a dozen variants of the LP, benefiting from artwork designed by Tim Burton for many of them. He also collaborated with Bilt for a members-exclusive edition of the project. This strategy resulted in a record week for vinyl sales for the rapper.

Don’t Be Dumb was released after nearly eight years following his previous album, TESTING. In a discussion on The New York Times’ “Popcast,” Rocky mentioned various factors that contributed to the delay, including his family life with Rihanna and ongoing legal issues related to his gun assault case involving A$AP Relli.

He expressed that he believed he would be ready to release new music in 2024 as he anticipated the conclusion of the court case, which kept facing delays. He found it challenging to focus during that time, explaining that his role as a parent was significant in his life and creative process. He shared that his experiences during this period provided him with new material to explore in his music.
