Throughout his professional career, RetcH, a rapper from New Jersey, has often found himself in challenging circumstances. The veteran East Coast MC has faced significant challenges over the past several years. In 2021, RetcH was facing the repercussions of his actions following a probation rule infraction. Retchy P was initially facing a lengthy prison sentence, ranging from 10-20 to as many as 65 years, due to the armed robbery charges. It all started at the beginning of 2016. Fortunately for him, he had no time in prison to serve in 2018. In recent times, there has been relatively little news concerning him in relation to his legal matters. It seems that things are moving in a positive direction, which is always a welcome piece of information. As far as music goes, however, things have been relatively subdued. Since his 2021 collaboration “Shiesty” with V Don and Maxo Kream, he has maintained a relatively low public profile.
Following the administrative segregation controversy in 2022, RetcH released his debut project. The solo project consisted of 10 songs and exceeded 26 minutes in length. 2023 marked his final official streaming release, which featured him alongside Fenix Flexin on Slayter’s single “Juice Sipper”. Business is slowly recovering, particularly on the YouTube platform. The album features “P.O.P Hold It Down,” which includes a guest contribution from Ab-Soul. In keeping with Retch’s signature style, the track is characteristically dark and reminiscent of the gritty East Coast boom-bap sound. The piano keys bring a delicate touch, introducing a welcome element to enhance the rhythm. The two artists deliver strong verses, and we can only be optimistic that this collaboration may lead to new material from RetcH in the near future, possibly by 2025.
