Rema has shared his feelings for the first time about losing the Best Global Music Album category at the 2025 Grammys.

Rema, the Nigerian music sensation also known as Divine Ikubor, experienced disappointment when his highly regarded album ‘HEIS’ failed to win the Best Global Music Album award at the 66th Annual Grammys ceremony held in 2025. Rema’s reaction to the setback has been characterised by unwavering determination and a positive outlook.

In a conversation with Rolling Stone, the well-known artist stated that he wasn’t bothered by not winning the Best Global Music Album category to Matt B and the London Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, as he explained that he found it enjoyable watching others walk up on stage to receive their awards, while he waited hopefully for his own moment, and when that didn’t occur, he accepted his circumstances.

In a recent interview, he noted, “I was fully appreciating each instant, I was also celebrating people’s joy as they walked up to the stage.” I had my fingers crossed that I’d walk up on stage too, and when it didn’t happen…it’s just the way things go. I’ve been nominated for awards before but unfortunately didn’t win on those occasions either.

The Grammy Awards ceremony was a mixed experience for Nigerian artists, as fellow nominees like Davido, Burna Boy, and Asake also failed to receive any awards. Tems earned Nigeria great prestige by securing the Best Melodic Rap Performance award for her contribution to Future’s ‘Wait For U’, thereby achieving her second Grammy victory.
