Born Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, Latin trap artist Bad Bunny, often referred to as the “King of Latin Trap”, is scheduled to be the main performer at the 2026 Super Bowl halftime event in February. The NFL, Apple Music and Roc Nation announced on Sunday, September 28, that they would be hosting a highly-anticipated concert by the Puerto Rican superstar.

The announcement was made in the evening, during the Dallas Cowboys versus. A close-up video of Bad Bunny sitting down is shown during the Green Bay Packers game. As the camera pulls back, it becomes clear that he is sitting atop an NFL goal post. The clip was posted on social media, where it featured his song “Callaita,” which is from his fourth album Un Verano Sin Ti, playing in the background.

“What I’m feeling transcends my own personal feelings. It’s for those who came before me and ran countless yards so I could come in and score a touchdown… this is for my community, my culture, and our heritage,” said Bad Bunny in a press statement. “Go tell your grandma that we will be performing the HALFTIME SHOW of the SUPER BOWL.”

Recently, JAY-Z has been involved in choosing the Super Bowl halftime performers, including Kendrick Lamar for 2025 and Usher the previous year. Benito has done and continues to do something truly inspiring for Puerto Rico, JAY-Z added in a press statement. It’s an honour for us to have him on the world’s largest stage.

Bad Bunny concluded his Puerto Rico residency with a last concert that was broadcast live worldwide on Amazon Prime. Bad Bunny’s schedule will be packed in the upcoming year as his “Debí Tirar Más Fotos World Tour” is set to kick off in late November 2025 and wrap up in July 2026. The “Dakiti” singer deliberately avoided visiting mainland U.S. cities during the tour due to concerns over aggressive tactics employed by ICE under the Trump administration.

It’s a safe bet Bad Bunny will address his concerns during the highly anticipated halftime concert, which is expected to be the year’s most-watched musical performance. The 60th Super Bowl is planned for February 8, 2026, at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California, located near San Francisco in the San Francisco Bay Area. Bad Bunny will host the premiere of the new season of Saturday Night Live on Saturday, October 4, with Doja Cat as the musical guest.
