It’s difficult to claim that Keke Palmer lacks a sense of humour. The well-known actor and singer made a guest appearance on Kai Cenat’s livestream on Sunday, 7 September, when Rakai incorrectly identified her as the R&B superstar Mary J. Blige.

On 8 September, a Monday, The Neighborhood Talk shared a clip from Cenat’s ongoing “Mafiathon 3” livestream event that has been running for a month on Instagram. They captioned the post with two crying emojis, saying “The fact that she really started singing is absolutely unbelievable.” Palmer comments “We gotta make something happen” while seated next to the Cenat, before Rakai interrupts him, saying “Wait, you did a song,” and proceeds to sing Blige’s 1992 hit “Real Love.”

Palmer chose to roll with the apparent recognition failure, even singing a portion of the song for added comedic effect. Rakai says, “You did that, right?”

Mary J Blige then responded jokingly, “You know it’s me, Mary J. It’s me, Mary J. Blige!” which drew even more laughter from Cenat and the others. The teenager then attempted to shift the blame to his mother, claiming “My mom just texted me and said that.”

Palmer’s gracious show was a stark contrast to the unforgiving nature of the comments. “This younger generation is extremely unimpressive… I mean, I used to be familiar with all of my parents’ music and various artists.” One user stated they have no idea what they’re talking about.

The Emmy Award winner also received numerous compliments for joining in on the laughter, with another commentator also saying, “I love how Keke handled this, [because] they clearly attempted to provoke her.”

Earlier this year, Palmer coincidentally shared a story about how she genuinely reacted with tears while starring in Ludacris’ music video for “Runaway Love,” which features Mary J. Blige.
