Controversial street pop artist Habeeb Olalomi Badmus, known as Portable, has stirred up online discussions after saying he won’t pledge loyalty to any political party for the upcoming 2027 general elections.

Instead, he stated that he will support whichever candidate or party pays him first.

In a video posted on Instagram, Portable emphasized that he won’t go without food just for politics. He invited political parties to offer him money, claiming his support will go to the “highest bidder. ” He specifically mentioned Peter Obi from the Labour Party, President Bola Tinubu, and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), stating that whoever gives him financial support first will earn his backing and influence over his fans.

“My fans can vote for whoever they want, but I will only support the one who pays me for the 2027 elections. The one who drops money first between Peter Obi, Tinubu, or PDP is the one I’ll stand behind,” he said.

Portable, who recently showed off his kids online, explained that he has obligations and can’t allow his family or close friends to suffer while being involved with a political party. He reminisced about his past in politics, mentioning that although he used to support Senator Solomon Adeola, he still ended up in jail, and that his friend Seyi Tinubu has never given him any money.

He also pointed out that it’s wrong for people to think he should campaign for free while he spends his own money on giving out food. “I use my money to buy rice and give to my fans. People shouldn’t mess up my life with rice. If I’m using my voice to help you get votes, you should support me financially,” he said.

His comments come after he expressed disappointment about his meeting with Peter Obi in Benin City, Edo State, where he claimed the Labour Party candidate only shook his hand, unlike President Tinubu, whom he credited with “changing his life” after meeting his son Seyi Tinubu in July.

Portable’s straightforward statements highlight his controversial stance on politics and his public life, as he insists that money will decide his political support in the 2027 elections.
