Portable Is Said To Have Welcomed A New Baby While In Detention

Nigerian singer Habeeb Okikiola, known as Portable, has welcomed a new baby while in detention due to ongoing criminal charges.

Reports indicate that five days after his remand in custody, his first wife, Omobewaji, gave birth, presenting a bittersweet moment for the artist.

Portable was arraigned on January 12, 2026, in a Federal High Court in Ogun State, facing nine counts of criminal charges. The presiding judge denied his bail due to the absence of the police officer allegedly assaulted by Portable, who was expected to attend the hearing.

Following the proceedings, the court ordered Portable to be held in custody and adjourned the case until January 19, 2026, for a consideration of his bail application.

Sources have reported that Portable has been informed of the birth of his child while in custody. He responded with enthusiasm and expressed a strong desire to gain his freedom to meet his newborn.

His current legal issues reportedly stem from an incident involving one of his wives, Ashabi Simple, during which he allegedly assaulted a police officer. As the case progresses, opinions are mixed among fans and followers, with some sending congratulations for the birth and others awaiting the court’s decision regarding his situation.
