Portable Faces Backlash For Making Controversial Claims About His Father

Nigerian street-pop singer Portable, born Habeeb Okikiola, has garnered public attention once again following serious allegations he made against his father in a video shared on Instagram on January 6, 2026.

In the video, Portable accused his father of taking his personal belongings, such as shoes and clothes, while attempting to gain control over his properties. He further alleged that his father contacted his children’s mothers without his consent, making continuous demands for money from them.

In a mix of Yoruba and Pidgin English, Portable expressed his frustration over what he described as years of neglect from his father. He claimed that this neglect persisted even after his rise to success.

He conveyed disappointment over his father’s absence during his legal issues and lack of support for his education and initial investments.

Portable maintained that his achievements in music and the wealth he currently possesses were attained through his own hard work, well before he became famous.

He also accused his father of financial mismanagement concerning building projects, alleging that inflated bills were presented whenever he tasked him with overseeing construction.

In addition, he drew parallels with the late Afrobeats artist Mohbad’s family circumstances, referencing the controversies surrounding Mohbad’s estate in 2023. Portable emphasized that he would not allow a similar situation to occur in his own life, asserting that his father would not benefit from his success.

He ended the video by demanding that his father stay away from him and his affairs, stating that he would no longer tolerate what he characterized as manipulation and exploitation.

This incident contributes to the ongoing narrative of Portable’s family challenges, generating significant reactions online as fans and observers discuss the troubled relationship.
