Portable Awarded ₦2 Million Bail Following Court Proceedings In Ogun State

Nigerian singer Habeeb Okikiola, commonly referred to as Portable, has had bail granted to him by the Isabo Magistrate Court located in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

The Zaazoo Zeh singer was brought before a judge on a Thursday morning to face five separate charges: conspiracy, assault, obstruction, the possession of firearms, and conduct that posed a significant threat to public safety.

Portable maintained his innocence in response to all allegations. Nine of his aides were simultaneously brought before Magistrate O. L. alongside him. Found guilty on similar charges. The list of co-defendants also comprises individuals such as Nurudeen Warris (21), Adetola Alashe (25), Samuel Adeleke (28), Oluwaseun Ayenuwa (19), Oluwapelumi Adeosun (20), Gospel Kanu (20), Precious Ohiegebo (19), Ifeoluwa Babatunde (27), and Fatimo Muhammed (26). The individuals were charged with felony, assault, and obstructing local town planners, all while allegedly being armed with swords and firearms and intending to cause harm and disrupt public order.

An incident led to charges against three town planning officials: Abidemi Onabanjo, Ramon Lateef, and Akinpelumi Oyero, who it is alleged, were assaulted while performing their official duties at Odogwu Bar, a property owned by Portable.

The singer’s counsel, Oluwatoyin Ayodele, then made an appeal for bail, arguing that Portable had demonstrated remorse and taken the lesson from the incident.

District Judge O. L. Port mobile bail was granted in the amount of ₦2 million, with one surety who must provide an identical sum. The case was further postponed until March 5, 2025, for the trial to take place.
