Controversial Nigerian artist Habeeb Okikiola, widely known as Portable, has appeared before the Isabo High Court in Abeokuta, Ogun State, following his recent surrender to law enforcement.

The Ogun State Police Command confirmed that Portable turned himself in on Tuesday, February 19, 2025, at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Eleweran, Abeokuta, after weeks of evading arrest. He was wanted in connection with an alleged assault on officials from the Ogun State Town Planning Agency during an enforcement action regarding his property in Ilogbo.

Ogun State police spokesperson Omolola Odutola announced,

“The Ogun State Police Command would like to inform the public that Habeeb Okikiola, also known as Portable, arrived at the State Criminal Investigation Department, Eleweran, Abeokuta, at precisely 1:23 PM today, February 19, 2025. His visit to the SCID is related to an ongoing investigation. The command assures the public that due process will be observed in this matter, and updates will be shared as necessary.”

Portable was deemed a wanted individual after a confrontation with three town planning officials—TPL Onabanjo Abidemi, TPL Raymond Lateef, and TPL Ridwan Oyero Akinlesi—who were performing their duties in Oke-Osa, Tigbo Ilu Ota, Ogun State. Following the incident, the singer reportedly went underground, denying any involvement in the assault.

In his bid to resolve the situation, Portable sought assistance from both the federal and Ogun State authorities. He also claimed to be receiving psychiatric treatment, but police dismissed his assertions, maintaining that he needed to face questioning. After weeks of avoidance, the singer hinted at a potential surrender in a social media post.

He later issued a public apology to the Ogun State government, citing fear as the reason for his initial flight. With Portable now arraigned at the Isabo High Court, legal proceedings will determine the outcome of the assault allegations.

The police have assured the public that due process will be upheld, and further updates will be provided as the case progresses.
