Polo G – Chinatown Pt. 2

Polo G Chinatown Pt. 2

Polo G is still actively producing high-quality music despite the notion that he might have slowed down. The Chicago rapper’s latest album, “Chinatown Pt. 2,” simply is that. It follows the release of “Shoot It Off,” which became available on streaming platforms on September 10.

The title seems familiar because “Chinatown” is a track found on Polo’s debut album, The GOAT, released in 2020, and it’s one of his most frequently used songs from that record. In February 2021, he tweeted, “My personal favourite, Chinatown, no matter what, & still no changes.”

Given this context, it’s no surprise to see him follow it up here. Some of these new and improved part two bars reference the original, which is a cool nod to its roots. Polo G raps on part one, “I’m 30 years old, I play like the Splash Brothers with Klay.”

“Like Stephen, my shooters are clutch, I didn’t get the impression that you were tough / We aren’t recruiting, you won’t fit in, don’t want any new individuals in my group.”

In addition to those entertaining callbacks, the song is well-crafted from a emotional perspective as Polo G discusses how his past continues to haunt him, yet it has also contributed to him becoming the successful artist he is today.
