Pharrell Williams Has Been Honored With A Knighthood By French President Emmanuel Macron

Pharrell Williams has received significant recognition in France, having been awarded the country’s highest civilian honor, presented to him by President Emmanuel Macron.

On January 23, Pharrell was knighted as a Chevalier de la Légion d’Honneur (Knight of the Legion of Honor) during a ceremony at the Winter Garden of the Élysée Palace. This event followed a busy week for the producer, who led Louis Vuitton’s Fall/Winter 2026 presentation at Paris Fashion Week as the Men’s Creative Director on January 20.

During his speech, Macron highlighted Pharrell’s numerous achievements, including a nod to his fashion advice and his participation in the Pièces Jaunes charity concert with his wife, Brigitte Macron. The president praised Pharrell for his contributions to music, fashion, and culture, stating, “Dear Pharrell, listing all your achievements would be impossible. You have the rare ability to live a thousand passions within a single lifetime.” He noted Pharrell’s dedication and discipline, mentioning his routine that includes early rising, exercise, meditation, and songwriting.

Macron also emphasized the importance of gratitude in Pharrell’s journey, stating, “Behind the brilliance of your success lies this daily rigor. But also, a guiding principle to which you remain deeply faithful: Gratitude. Gratitude for the journey that brought you here, allowing you, despite worldwide recognition, to remain the humble, witty, and deeply human creator so admired by your teams.”

Pharrell shared images from the ceremony on his Instagram, captioning them, “Chevalier of the Légion d’Honneur. Grateful and blessed.” Attendees included his wife, Helen Lasichanh, their children, and fellow artists Future, Pusha T, and Quavo.

In contrast to the widespread praise, Chad Hugo, Pharrell’s N.E.R.D. co-founder, has recently filed a lawsuit against him over royalties.
