Nigerian rapper Olamide has been named the headliner for the Mainland Block Party’s New Year’s Day concert, “Mission 26K,” scheduled for January 1, 2026, in Lagos.

The event is anticipated to attract up to 30,000 attendees, making it one of the largest New Year celebrations in Africa. Mainland Block Party has established a reputation for hosting high-energy, youth-oriented festivals, and this 2026 edition is expected to follow suit.

“Mission 26K,” named for its ambitious attendance goal, will welcome the new year with a night filled with music and entertainment. Olamide, regarded as one of Nigeria’s most significant artists, is known for his dynamic performances and numerous hit songs. His participation is likely to attract many fans looking to celebrate the new year in a prominent cultural setting.

While organizers have not yet confirmed the venue, the concert has historically taken place at the Police College in Ikeja. The event is organized by The Plug, which has regularly used the Mainland Block Party to showcase Afrobeats artists and up-and-coming talent.

This announcement follows Olamide’s recent international success, including a sold-out show at London’s OVO Arena Wembley, which has a capacity of 12,500. His return to a major stage in Lagos is set to provide a memorable start to 2026 for music enthusiasts in the city.
