Nigerian rapper Olamide Adedeji, founder of YBNL, has provided insight into significant changes in his personal and professional life.

In a recent interview with Flow 98.7 FM, the acclaimed artist shared that he is now making a conscious decision to prioritize himself after dedicating years to his own music and supporting the careers of many emerging artists.

Olamide explained that for much of his career, he has been balancing the dual responsibilities of growing his brand and promoting younger musicians. He indicated that this phase of his life has evolved, stating, “Right now, I’m at the phase in my life where I’m really trying to give myself undivided attention.”

This announcement is noteworthy for fans, particularly given Olamide’s established reputation as a key figure in developing talent in Nigeria. He acknowledged this change by saying, “All my life I’ve been trying to be there for people and also trying to do my stuff. But right now, I’m really just trying to focus on myself 100 per cent.”

Through YBNL, Olamide has played a significant role in shaping several prominent figures in Afrobeats, launching or nurturing artists like Lil Kesh, Young Jonn, Pheelz, Fireboy DML, Lyta, Asake, and Adekunle Gold. In addition to his label, his support has consistently elevated emerging artists to national recognition, with collaborations or endorsements helping talents such as Zlatan, Naira Marley, Portable, and Bella Shmurda gain substantial visibility.

As Olamide enters this more introspective stage, he indicates a shift characterized by personal development, renewed focus, and a slower pace following years of industry leadership.
