Oladips Has Issued An Apology To Reminisce Following Years of Conflict

The apology was conveyed through Oladips’ recently released single, Iba Paris 26, in which the rapper openly discussed the fallout.

In the song, he acknowledged his own mistakes and expressed sincere regret over the breakdown of their relationship.

Oladips mentioned that this public confession was not his first attempt to find reconciliation. He stated that he had made numerous attempts to contact Reminisce privately over the years without success, leading him to use music as the final means of reaching out.

“I tried to make contact several times but it didn’t work. This is me saying it openly,” Oladips remarked in the track.

At the start of his career, Oladips was signed to LRR/EDGE Records, the label owned by Reminisce. What began as a promising collaboration soon deteriorated, with tensions surfacing not long after.

By 2019, the situation became public. Oladips accused the label of neglect and financial difficulties, asserting that despite releasing popular tracks, he struggled to make ends meet under the contract.

He claimed that attempts to leave the label were met with resistance, which further exacerbated the conflict.

Subsequently, the rapper removed all mentions of LRR from his social media profiles and released a series of songs that were perceived as direct criticisms of Reminisce. In those tracks, he accused his former mentor of exploitative practices and of creating a challenging environment during his time with the label.

These releases initiated a notable dispute that unfolded publicly through interviews, social media, and music, becoming a widely discussed incident in Nigerian hip-hop.

While Reminisce mostly stayed silent, the tension did not entirely dissipate. In 2022, the conflict reignited when fans interpreted some of Reminisce’s lyrics as veiled references to former signees, prompting Oladips to respond again through music.

By that time, the disagreement had persisted for over five years, with Oladips claiming at various points that the rift impacted his reputation in the industry. He suggested that his issues with Reminisce affected his relationships with other prominent artists.

However, Iba Paris 26 presents a different perspective. This time, Oladips reflects on his experiences rather than holding onto resentment, recognizing that personal growth, time, and challenges have altered his viewpoint. Rather than reopening old disputes, the rapper seems to prioritize healing, opting for peace instead of continuing a feud that has lasted too long.
