NLE Choppa’s Mother Offers Housing And Christmas Gifts To A Memphis Family Affected By A Fire

A little kindness can have a significant impact during the holidays, particularly for those needing assistance. On Monday, December 22, FOX13 Memphis reported that Angela Potts, the mother of rapper NLE Choppa, provided housing and Christmas gifts to a local family who was recently displaced by a fire.

After learning about the fire that destroyed Corey Jefferson and his family’s home on December 19 through Facebook, Potts felt motivated to help. “Initially, I was going to get toys together so the kids could have a really good Christmas, based on everything that happened with them losing everything inside the fire,” she stated. “And once I talked to Mr. Jefferson, he expressed the fact that he was looking for a house.”

According to the news outlet, Jefferson mentioned to Potts that he was unable to afford a place for his family before Christmas. “So, it dawned on me that I still had a home available,” Potts explained. The mother of the artist, who also manages the NLE Choppa Foundation, then offered Jefferson’s family a few months’ stay at one of her rental properties at no charge.

“I said, ‘This will be a great blessing to bring them back together under the same roof for Christmas,’” Potts told FOX13. “So, when we got here, I already had the toys, and the shoes, and all the other things inside of the house, already set up waiting for him.”

Since establishing the NLE Choppa Foundation, the rapper has organized several toy drives to assist families in Memphis. In 2023, he visited a fan named Neeno, who had been given only a week to live after battling leukemia, and more recently, he published a children’s book titled “Cricket Stop Cricking.”

On the music front, Choppa released three singles this year under his new name, NLE The Great: “Messiah (Devil’s Diss),” “KO,” and “Hello Revenge.”
