There are currently many soon-to-be couples in the Hip Hop and R&B genres. On Friday evening, December 26, NLE Choppa announced his engagement to Erica Ravén.

In a post on Instagram, NLE shared a video of himself proposing with a ring in front of a festive holiday tree. He captioned the post, “Now that’s gangsta.”

Another clip showed the engagement ring on Ravén’s finger, while a separate photo featured the couple sharing a kiss. Deiondra Sanders commented, “Awww, congratulations!!” and Ray Vaughn expressed his happiness with, “Happy for you, brother.”

Despite keeping his personal life mostly private, Ravén previously shared pictures in October of NLE kissing her on the cheek and them holding hands, captioning it, “My darling.” In November, the couple posted a video dancing to NLE’s song “KO,” which included another kiss.

NLE is not the only rapper who recently got engaged. On December 16, Young Thug proposed to Mariah the Scientist during his benefit show titled “Hometown Hero: Young Thug & Friends.” After the proposal, he remarked, “I guess I’m getting married.”

Musically, it has been a notable year for NLE, who introduced his new name, NLE The Great, in July with the release of “Messiah (Devil’s Diss).” He followed this with “KO,” where he criticized YoungBoy Never Broke Again for influencing the youth negatively.

NLE commented to Rolling Stone about his motivation for the diss track, stating, “One thing I started to realize since I was first blowing up was the reach I had on the youth. And to know that whatever it is that they’re receiving, the interest we give them is what they used to take it to a mile. I feel like the entire third verse was basically bringing awareness to a brother that I wanted to hold accountable for that.”
