Nas consistently expresses his support for emerging artists. On Wednesday, November 19, De La Soul introduced their upcoming collaboration, “Run It Back!!,” in which the renowned rapper mentioned Kendrick Lamar, Doechii, SZA, and several other new artists in the music scene.

In the second verse of the song, Nas delivered lines such as: “It’s wild as the ‘80s, ‘90s, and ‘00s, how it was sick, how did this slip? / Now it’s just Doechii, Dot, and SZA with most powerful hits.”

Recently, Nas has openly endorsed Lamar, stating last month that he would “love to work” with him during an interview with Complex. Meanwhile, Doechii and SZA continue to be prominent figures at Top Dawg Entertainment.

Although Nas’ verse could have been written recently, the artists he mentioned are experiencing significant success in 2025. Lamar and SZA completed the European leg of their “Grand National Tour” together in August. Doechii has also made history as the third woman in rap to win Best Rap Album and is currently enjoying the success of her project, “Anxiety.”

In another part of the song, Nas noted, “Leon Thomas, Shaboozey with the country raps / Only Black artists on top of the charts.”

In 2024, Shaboozey became the first Black man to simultaneously reach the top of the Billboard Hot 100 and Hot Country Songs charts with his song “A Bar Song (Tipsy).” That year, the track matched Lil Nas X’s “Old Town Road” as the longest-running No. 1 on the Hot 100.

“Run It Back!!” is scheduled to be available on streaming services on Friday, November 21. The track will be part of De La Soul’s album Cabin In The Sky, which will also feature Killer Mike, Q-Tip, and Black Thought.
