Nas Claims He’d Be Enthusiastic To Collaborate With Kendrick Lamar, But Only If The Circumstances Were Genuinely Organic

Nas and Kendrick Lamar — two of the most talented lyricists in hip-hop history — have surprisingly never worked together on a track. On October 15, Wednesday, the Queensbridge rapper stated that he’d “love to work with him,” provided it occurs organically.

The focus is entirely on the artist. “Together recording and working, it should feel extremely natural,” Nas said to Complex’s Jordan Rose when he was asked about a potential collaboration. It would be excellent. I’d love to collaborate with him, but I believe it’s essential for it to flow smoothly in how it’s linked.

When I’m with anyone, particularly someone like him, I’d like to take my time with them, so we’ll see, Nas added. He humorously turned to the camera and addressed Lamar directly, saying, “[If] you’d be so kind as to do a song with your brother.” The Illmatic rapper stated that the invitation extends to “all you MCs out there,” not limited to the individual from Compton.

Nas has been showering Lamar with a lot of affection recently. On Tuesday, October 7, he described the “Not Like Us” rapper as the “North Star” of the rap genre to Rolling Stone. “He described Kendrick as one of the brightest stars we’ve ever seen, not just a superstar but someone like the North Star.” Among all the artists in this industry, there are some who are not here for the art. When we witness individuals who are not present for the art’s sake causing harm to it, you’re undermining the art’s future. I believe artists such as Kendrick will voice their opinions.

Lamar has had a remarkably successful year so far. His “Grand National Tour” is scheduled to conclude in December. He joined Playboi Carti on Tuesday, October 14, to perform “GOOD CREDIT” live at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.
