Murda Beatz & Lancey Foux – White Tee

The legacy of Dem Franchise Boyz’s 2004 hit “White Tee” continues to inspire new interpretations of contemporary hip-hop, with the latest example being a collaboration between Murda Beatz and Lancey Foux. In contrast to the brash quality of the original, this new “White Tee” adopts a more woozy tone while maintaining its forceful impact.

Murda’s signature trap production, particularly through the drums, is still evident here, mirroring his successful output from the 2010s. This time around, the synths have a slightly more piercing and robust tone, reminiscent of the prevailing rage wave that many artists are currently championing. The beat remains relatively consistent throughout, with the exception of a drop-out during the bridge, however the “DANCE ON ME” artist supplies all the necessary energy to create more dynamism.

His infectious vocal tone, which transitions seamlessly from smoky corners to more nasal bravado, is extremely well-suited to this soundscape. Lyrically, the album doesn’t have a lot to offer, but there are still some cheeky lines that the producer of “Winter’s Over” mentions. It appears that additional work from both artists will be available shortly, which is indeed very exciting.

Lancey Foux’s “TEKTIME” already stands as one of this year’s most underappreciated singles, and we are hopeful that there will be even more releases on the way. Meanwhile, Murda Beatz’s 2025 collaborations imply a project is in the works. We’ll see if this ultimately materializes as a killer singles run, or if it’s just a one-off. Regardless of the outcome, “White Tee” suggests they have a significant amount of chemistry to work with in the future, and a lot of fun to share.
