M.I.A. returns with a new album, possibly the UK’s most diverse and unpredictable artist ever, titled “SAFE.” The West London rapper and producer is battling to protect herself from the threats and dangers that are disrupting her peaceful life. She is approaching it with her new best friend, Jesus.

Several years ago, M.I.A. converted to the largest religion in the world. She’s chosen to incorporate her faith into this single, thanks to her newly acquired perspective on life. The production combines elements of Christian hip-hop and trap, incorporating background vocals from a child choir.

Her lyrics describe unsettling feelings that could symbolize the challenges M.I.A. is facing.

She also discusses the numerous changes she’s made in addition to adopting this new philosophy. “I hop up off the corner burner, gone are the days when I was a sinner who would win / Every time I overcome a challenge, I’m running on adrenaline / I hop up off the corner, I used to associate with some weak people.”

M.I.A. acknowledges that her past has played a significant role in shaping her, and she expresses gratitude towards it, rather than regret.
