Nigerian artists Lojay and Sarz have achieved another significant international accomplishment, with their chart-topping hit Monalisa, featuring American musician Chris Brown, being officially certified Gold in the United States.

The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) confirmed the certification on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, following the record’s sales and streams across the country exceeding 500,000 units.

The Sarz-produced single, originally released in 2021 as part of Lojay’s breakout EP LV N ATTN, gained popularity across Africa before a Chris Brown remix helped it achieve global recognition. The collaboration transformed Monalisa into a viral sensation, reaching the top of the charts and receiving heavy airplay on radio and streaming services globally.

This latest recognition further cements Lojay and Sarz’s status as prominent figures in the Afrobeats movement currently gaining momentum worldwide. This highlights Nigerian artists’ ongoing innovation in the US market.

This isn’t the first time Lojay and Chris Brown have received an RIAA certification, as they were previously certified for their joint track Sensational, which achieved Platinum status earlier this year after selling and streaming over one million units combined.

The Monalisa remix stands out as a prime illustration of Afrobeats’ worldwide appeal, combining Lojay’s soothing vocals, Sarz’s distinctive production style, and Chris Brown’s R&B influence to produce a sound that echoes from Lagos to Los Angeles.
