Logic – SOLD OUT

logic sold out

The artist’s logical progression of his music journey, which he initiated earlier this year, is evident in his latest single “SOLD OUT”. The Maryland-based rapper has unveiled a fresh new project, titled SideQuest. Although the album has not been officially released, it will showcase the artist transitioning from the dense lyricism of Ultra 85 to a style reminiscent of Playboi Carti’s work. Past experiments with more complex sounds by Logic have yielded inconsistent results. The “SOLD OUT” track sounds more akin to a Bobby Tarantino compilation than a traditional Carti album. The track is a solid, though somewhat unremarkable, new release.

“SOLD OUT” is the product of Logic’s longtime collaborator, 6ix. This beat seems like something that several other rappers would also feel comfortable rapping over. The Opium artists he is emulating, such as those from Juicy J, immediately come to mind. The verses are straightforward boasts, with Logic showing off his watches and the women visible in the background.

The phrase “SOLD OUT” may also be referencing Logic’s “Sell Out Records” skits from his early Young Sinatra mixtapes. In various skits, a fictional record label executive named Marty Randolph attempts to persuade Logic to sell his soul, however, Logic consistently refuses the offer. On this track, the hook goes “everything sold out, Audemars showed up, tickets have been sold out, none of them were rolled out.” Intention underlies logic, whether positive or negative, suggesting a basis for comparison is plausible.

A release date for SideQuest has not been officially confirmed by Logic, but indications suggest it will be available before the summer. While none of the released singles have been entirely disappointing, it will be intriguing to observe if he is holding back the album’s strongest tracks for the full release, a pattern that was also observed in his previous album. Verify the status listed as “SOLD OUT” below.
