Little Simz – Lotus

Little Simz Lotus

Little Simz has already captivated us with her vision for her sixth studio album, Lotus. She’s ticked all the right boxes for us, from the sound quality to the overall messages and themes. The song “Flood” with Obongjayar and Moonchild Sanelly effectively established the tone for the rollout. She revealed a more forceful and ravenous aspect of herself by adopting a gruff tone to add emphasis to her assertive stance. The London female rapper felt invincible and unbreakable as she boomed her way through a gritty track. This new hip-hop single is considered a top contender for the best of 2025, and it’s joined by another strong track called “Free,” which is her second single to preview.

The track has a poetic quality to it as Little Simz explores the contrast between love and fear. Surrounded by fear, we are without love. In the presence of love, we experience a sense of liberation, and our fear disappears. The artist also provides a clear description of how each emotion affects us. “She believes honesty and authenticity are crucial, and that love involves accepting that individuals can grow,” she explains in the opening verse. In addition to maintaining consistency in her subject matter, Little Simz is also hitting the mark at 100% when it comes to crafting memorable melodies. In contrast, “Free” presents a more melodic and carefree sound compared to the heavy and groovy bass line featured on “Flood.” The only thing left to be said now is that we are eagerly anticipating May 9.
