Fans who have been eagerly waiting years to hear Liquideep’s unique sound have finally been rewarded as the group has ended their lengthy hiatus.

Jonathan “Ziyon” Hamilton and Thabo “Ryzor” Shokgolo announced their reunion on September 24, 2025, via a lighthearted video posted on X.

The clip, which rapidly gained widespread online attention, contained a lighthearted jab at the pair’s earlier fame before they publicly announced their reunion.

Liquideep, who originated in Johannesburg in 2007, secured a unique position in South African music through their debut work, Fabrics of the Heart, which achieved multi-platinum status and produced notable tracks such as “Alone” and “Fairytale.”

In 2011, they solidified their status as a leading force in the music industry by taking home numerous South African Music Awards, thus reinforcing their standing as one of the most influential house music acts of their time.

More than a decade after their departure, the duo is now resuming their performances with live shows scheduled, one of which will take place in Durban on 1 November, with another event planned for Bloemfontein.

Speculation has been sparked that new music may be on the way after a revised version of their song “BBM” was released.
