LeBron James admits they’re in “different places right now,” but claims he’ll always have affection for Drake. The NBA legend discussed their friendship in an interview with Speedy Morman on his show “360 With Speedy” on Thursday, September 18.

James explained that he wishes him the best, noting that they are now in different locations. He’s doing his thing, I’m doing mine, but there’s always love for certain.

The Los Angeles Lakers star had ties with Drake dating back to their shared connection with 2009’s So Far Gone, resulting in fans being understandably surprised to see James at Kendrick Lamar’s “The Pop Out — Ken and Friends” concert last summer.

In January, Drake appeared to respond to James on “Fighting Irish Freestyle,” a track initially heard in a now-deleted episode of Conductor Williams’ “Signature Blends” series. The Canadian rapper exclaimed, “The world became enamored with our gimmicks, even my brothers bought tickets / It seemed like they loved every moment / Just know this is deeply personal to us, and it wasn’t solely about business.”

The “Hotline Bling” artist is said to have concealed his No. 23 tattoo, associated with James’ jersey number, with Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s No. “Thunder” and the numeral 2 arched above it. A three-time NBA All-Star notably featured in the visual companion for “NOKIA” a few months prior.

Speaking with Yahoo! In 2011, James opened up about his relationship with Drake at that time. What we have is an actual family. He attributed our success to more than just our abilities. We genuinely care about one another in our daily lives. Whenever you have a friend who can come and offer support for your activities, I truly admire that.

It remains unclear whether Drake is open to reconciling, but for the time being, he is fully focused on his upcoming solo album, Iceman. The project’s latest single, “DOG HOUSE” which features Julia Wolf and Yeat, was released on September 8.
