Latto – Somebody

Latto Somebody

Latto revisits a 1998 Aaliyah flipped track that’s a soon-to-be hit before heading to Europe. Someone admires the rapper’s girlfriend and goes crazy.

The Queen of Da South delivers her smooth lyrics over a lively, easy-going instrumental that maintains a moderate energy level to keep listeners actively engaged. She’s talking about genuine love, trust, and the need for someone authentic – allowing people to see her more sensitive and vulnerable personality beyond her tough exterior. She’s still the same Big Latto, but with a bigger emphasis on emotional depth now.

Following her 2024 project Sugar Honey Iced Tea and the remix of “Blick Sum” which features Playboi Carti. What about this particular one? It’s a turning point, with less flexibility and more emotional resonance. She is demonstrating improvement, altering the dynamic, and proving she can successfully navigate any given path while maintaining control.

Latto’s artistic development is evident in her fusion of 1990s R&B influences with her signature self-assurance, marking a progression not only as a rapper but as a multifaceted artist. “Someone” isn’t just a classification; it’s a declaration that she can speak smoothly, speak softly, and still make it impactful.

Aaliyah’s timeless classic was produced by Timbaland. Timbo and Babygirl crafted her distinctive sound with timeless tracks such as “Try Again,” “More Than A Woman,” and “One And A Million.” Following her passing, Timbaland contributed to the production of her self-titled posthumous album, which was released in the year 2000.
