Lady London – Won’t Let You Down

Lady London Wont Let You Down

Lady London has collaborated with Walmart on The Spark campaign, which sends artists back to the roots of their creative interests and provides support to HBCU students and alumni on their academic and professional paths. For the music video of her new single “Won’t Let You Down,” she filmed at the Howard Theatre in Washington, D.C., a venue where she used to work behind the scenes during her time at Howard University earning her bachelor’s degree.

The “Is You Krazy?” rapper and singer delivers an R&B slow-burner on this track, showcasing her skilled verse delivery. A haunting bass tone, raindrops patter, sparse, otherworldly keyboard notes, and whispered ghostly harmonies produce a rather melancholic and leisurely atmosphere. She expresses her faith through singing and rapping, reaffirms others’ faith in her, overcomes adversity and neglect, and prioritizes listening over speaking.

The Bronx native has already achieved notable success with cuts like “Brand New” and features with her peers, so she can only improve from here. The Walmart collaboration also involved a conversation with Big Daddy Kane, one of the legends who strongly supports her. There is likely to be a significant amount of additional material forthcoming, particularly given that “Won’t Let You Down” reveals further versatility and vulnerability.

We’ll need to see if Lady London sticks with this path in future releases or if she’ll choose a more diverse selection of her talents and creative inspirations. It’s reassuring to note the significant progress she has made on her journey.
