Korede Bello Discusses His Spiritual Journey And Beliefs

Nigerian singer Korede Bello has shared his thoughts on faith, discussing his spiritual journey and perspectives on core Christian beliefs.

In a video posted on his Instagram page, he mentioned that he was raised in Islam but later chose Christianity after studying the Bible. Bello emphasized that his decision was based on personal conviction rather than external pressures.

He addressed the common portrayal of Jesus Christ in Christian imagery, questioning the focus on the crucifixion and encouraging believers to emphasize the resurrection instead.

“Does Jesus still belong on the cross? Before you judge me, please know that I am a Christian and Christ has already died for me,” Bello stated. “He has already been crucified for me, so there’s no need for that.”

He clarified that his point was not to undermine the significance of the cross, but rather to highlight the importance of the resurrection as central to Christian faith.

“Am I saying the cross is not important? No,” he said, noting that this reflection came to him during prayer. Bello mentioned that while contemplating the cross, he realized that Jesus is no longer on it but has ascended.

“I was praying and looking at the cross when it dawned on me that He’s no longer on it. When I think of Jesus, I think my identity is alongside the Father,”

he added.

Referencing biblical teachings, Bello cited Apostle Paul’s claim that faith is meaningless without the resurrection. He argued that Christianity should center on the risen Christ rather than solely on images of suffering and crucifixion.

Bello also discussed his personal journey, explaining that his transition to Christianity was deliberate and self-motivated.

“I was not born a Christian. I was born a Muslim. I had to study the Bible myself, not for religious reasons but for personal reasons,” he noted.

He expressed concern that many Christians remain preoccupied with the cross, asserting that their identity should be rooted in Christ’s resurrection and ascension rather than in His death.

“Our faith and identity are in the Christ who has ascended and is right next to the Father. Staying on the cross is akin to nailing Christ repeatedly,”

he remarked.

He further emphasized that love, rather than symbolism, is the true hallmark of Christianity. Quoting Jesus, Bello highlighted that believers should be known by the love they display towards one another.

He also mentioned communion as the appropriate means of remembrance, recalling that Jesus instructed His followers to remember Him through the breaking of bread and the drinking of wine.

To conclude his message, Korede Bello encouraged Christians to lead lives that reflect renewal, growth, and Christ-like character.

“Be well, be safe, be renewed, and be Christ-like. Think mega,”

he finished.
