Fans looking forward to the collaboration between Kendrick Lamar and the creators of “South Park” will have to wait a bit longer. Paramount has announced that the film’s previously scheduled release date of March 2026 has been postponed “indefinitely.”

The live-action comedy was first announced in 2022. However, Trey Parker and Matt Stone, along with Lamar, have indicated that the project is not yet ready for release.

“It’s true — we’re moving (again). We’re working hard at finishing the movie,” read a joint statement from Stone and Parker’s Park County production studio and Lamar’s pgLang creative agency, as reported by Variety.

Initially set for a July 4, 2025, release, the untitled project was later rescheduled to March 20, 2026, but has now been pushed back with no new date announced. The film’s details are limited, but it is written by comedian Vernon Chatman, with Lamar, Dave Free, Parker, and Stone serving as producers.

Since the announcement of his partnership with the creators, Lamar’s musical profile has significantly increased. He released two acclaimed albums, Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers and GNX, in 2022 and 2024, respectively. Additionally, his high-profile feud with Drake last year generated considerable media attention, culminating in a performance of his “Not Like Us” diss track during Super Bowl LIX.

Recently, Lamar received nine Grammy Award nominations, including Album of the Year for GNX, while “South Park” began its 28th season in October. When Lamar, Parker, and Stone eventually release their collaborative project, expectations among fans will likely be high.
