Kehlani – Folded

Kehlani Folded

Kehlani has your clothes “Folded” and ready for you to collect if you’d like to come by and pick them up. They also won’t object if you come inside and have a conversation. A palpable sense of sexual tension is extremely evident on this charming solo track the singer released very recently.

It is their first solo release following While We Wait 2, the sequel to their 2019 project of the same name. Kehlani released the project in August of last year, which included appearances by DESTIN CONRAD, Vince Staples, Lucky Daye, FLO, and others.

The duo’s second collaborative album, While We Wait 2, was released just months following their solo album CRASH. The latter included singles like “After Hours,” “Next 2 U,” “Sucia,” and “Tears.”

At this point, it’s unclear whether Kehlani is working on another project, but it’s definitely clear that “Folded” has a strong atmosphere. This contemporary R&B number, produced by Khris Riddick-Tynes, Andre Harris, Donovan Knight, and Don Mills, expresses their longing for a past love to come back.

They sing in the opening verse “It’s so silly of me to pretend I don’t need you / When all I can think about is us since I last saw you.”

It not only conveys the proper emotions and is well written, but it also has an infectious rhythm. The guitar melody underlying the drums introduces a sensual element that elevates the track.

The vocals have a buttery smooth quality, making this a complete record overall. Check out the visualizer for Kehlani’s song “Folded” below.
