Kcee Comments On The Rumored Dispute With Flavour

Nigerian singer Kcee has addressed the ongoing speculation regarding the relationship between him and highlife star Flavour, providing insight into the origins of their perceived tension.

The discussions about their relationship emerged again in 2024 when Flavour criticized an unnamed artist online for allegedly imitating his style. Although he did not specify anyone, Kcee responded publicly, cautioning against gatekeeping within Igbo cultural music, which increased speculation about a feud.

In a recent interview with Yanga FM Lagos, Kcee connected the tension to their first meeting. He stated that talent manager Soso Soberekon had introduced Flavour to him with the aim of securing a record deal. At that time, Kcee indicated that he was already an established artist and did not see Flavour as a suitable candidate for his label.

“I came into the music industry before Flavour,” he remarked. “Soso brought him to me years ago to sign him. I told him I couldn’t sign Flavour because I didn’t see the potential then.”

Kcee emphasized that his decision was not personal, expressing confusion over why Flavour might hold anything against him today. He suggested that part of the misunderstanding may arise from how some of his colleagues view him.

He mentioned that his humility often leads others to underestimate his abilities. “A lot of my colleagues underrate me, and my humility contributes to that,” he noted. “I don’t brag; I don’t need to. Time always proves them wrong.”

Kcee shared that many who previously doubted him have since recognized his achievements and growth. “Some of those who doubted me in the past have apologized and admitted they were wrong,” he added.

Kcee’s remarks provide clarity on a relationship that has been a topic of speculation among fans, highlighting how perceptions can evolve within the industry over time.
