KAYTRANADA – Space Invader

KAYTRANADA Space Invader

KAYTRANADA returns and is taking listeners on an intergalactic journey with his new single “Space Invader”. The electronic and dance track serves as the lead single for his impending album AIN’T NO DAMN WAY! which is set to be released this Friday, 15 August. The Haitian-Canadian producer posted a statement on his Instagram account the previous day.

“Oh my goodness, not a new album called AIN’T NO DAMN WAY – it’s coming out this Friday.” Keep an eye out for the midnight release of Space Invader. All in all, it’s a relatively fast turnaround for the GRAMMY winner since his previous album, TIMELESS, was released on June 7, 2024.

KAYTRANADA received another significant collaboration opportunity, working with a diverse range of artists including Don Toliver, SiR, Anderson .Paak, Rayvn Lenae, Dawn Richard, and several others. Details about the tracklist for “Ain’t No Damn Way!” are currently unavailable.

We are aware that the instrumental-heavy “Space Invader” is included. KAY collaborated with the English R&B trio FLO on “The Mood” in July. It appears the record is more extensive than the songstress’s entire discography.

On “Space Invader,” a pulsing bass line, consistent claps, and neon-lit keys predominate most of the rhythm. The song has limited lyrics, however it does incorporate a sample of Latrelle and Kelis’ single “My Life”, which was produced by The Neptunes.

KAYTRANADA takes the phrase “I wanna get away sometimes” from that chorus and loops it as his own refrain. The track harmonises with the title and atmosphere of the instrumental, evoking a sense of being transported beyond Earth’s atmosphere.

Be sure to check out “Space Invader” below and get ready for what promises to be another standout album from the master behind it.
