Following the success of her 2024 album ORQUÍDEAS, Kali Uchis continues the momentum by unveiling plans for another long-playing record. The upcoming body of work from singer, songwriter, and producer based in Alexandria, Virginia, titled Sincerely, is scheduled for release on May 9. According to the American-Colombian songstress, this marks her fifth release, and she considers this to be the final chapter of a creative trilogy. Kali points to her 2023 release Red Moon In Venus as the starting point, thereby indicating that ORQUÍDEAS is her subsequent work. The 30-year-old singer revealed to GQ España that her new single, Sincerely, is going to bring a lot of joy to her dedicated fans, known as Kuchis, from the very first day it is released. This experience will have a nostalgic feel, reminiscent of my early musical influences, but with a more sophisticated and mature approach—embodying a more feminine and less innocent persona.
She goes on to say, “If Orquídeas is the most danceable album I’ve made, the next one will be even more subdued, more contemplative, and more concerned with the human condition.” Kali Uchis obviously intended that, given that “Sunshine & Rain…” perfectly meets that criterion. She also highlighted the emphasis that will be placed on soul and traditional R&B music. The lead single’s drum pattern is influenced by boom-bap and its keyboard chords have a shimmering quality. Kali’s message is straightforward yet accurate, conveying that love is a key factor in healing the world and its inhabitants. Her voice has a captivating quality that is heavenly and profoundly uplifting, with the power to deeply stir one’s emotions. Starting strongly, it is hoped that the remainder of the album will match this quality.
