Joey Valence & Brae – SEE U DANCE ft. Rebecca Black

Joey Valence Brae SEE U DANCE Rebecca Black

Joey Valence & Brae are transporting us back to an era when artists such as Timbaland, Nelly Furtado, and Justin Timberlake were at the height of their popularity. The alternative hip-hop duo is handling this tastefully as well with their tribute to 2000s pop and R&B club hits on “SEE U DANCE.” This is the fourth and likely last single from their impending album HYPERYOUTH.

This album will be released on Friday, August 15 and will contain 14 tracks. Key features include JPEGMAFIA, one of their significant influencers, and Rebecca Black, the singer of “Friday”. In the last few years, she has been on a redemption path, rebranding herself with every new feature and release. She takes on the lead female role on the dance floor in the TV show “SEE U DANCE.”

She completely glides over the “Promiscuous”-inspired production led by Joey Valence. While not an exact replica, it still draws heavily from Timbo’s style during this period. He incorporates 80s-inspired synths and more unconventional hip-hop elements on the backend, much like Peggy.

The track grabs your attention immediately and refuses to release its hold. “Chemical attraction / We both knew it right away.” We certainly did, Rebecca, we certainly did.

HYPERYOUTH appears to have been inspired by Joey and Brae’s perspective on how a general fear of dancing and acting spontaneously in clubs has become prevalent. To see them discuss it further, view their interview with Anthony Fantano, specifically around the 33-minute point.
