The underappreciated duo in the hip-hop scene is reunited and the reunion feels incredibly satisfying. Native Marylander IDK and Floridian Denzel Curry have collaborated on the track “S.U” (Switch Up). It’s been almost exactly three years since their last joint effort, which was the track “Dog Food” from IDK’s 2022 album Simple. It’s worth noting that the track is featured as the lead single in the artist’s continued version of his 2024 album BRAVADO iNTiMO, with a good chance that “FLOW,” his previous release, might also be included. No official release date has been announced. At this stage, an announcement from fans can be anticipated in the near future.
IDK and Zel seem to be in perfect sync on “S.U,” delivering matching levels of energetic and emotive rap flows. In addition to the ominous bars and persistent rhymes, a low-key, ominous instrumental accompaniment helps establish the atmosphere. Denzel seems particularly ravenous in this scene, recalling his Imperial performances. The track’s message gets straight to the point, essentially warning listeners that changing sides may lead to being cut off. Had it been included in the original BRAVADO iNTiMO release, it would have been one of the standout tracks, and given both songs so far, the deluxe edition could be justified.
