She’s a supportive woman towards other women. On September 15, the “Did It First” rapper made an appearance on “Baby, This is Keke Palmer,” where she commended Cardi B for providing women in rap with encouragement.

“I think Cardi B genuinely brought back the hope that girls could rap, because for a long time, Nicki Minaj appeared almost unreachable,” Ice Spice told the show’s eponymous host. “It’s part of the lore that’s why I was so obsessed because I thought, ‘Only she could do it.'”

Despite the internet often pitting her against them, Ice Spice has technically collaborated with both Minaj and Cardi. She collaborated with him on “Princess Diana (Remix)” in 2023, and then again on “Barbie World” the subsequent year. Simultaneously, Cardi got on a remix of Y2K!’s “Munch (Feelin’ U)” track but ultimately chose not to release it due to not loving how her voice sounded.

Ice Spice described feeling “crazy, crazy, crazy” after being co-signed by Nicki Minaj. She added, “I’ve always wanted that to be the case, but when it happens, you’re like, ‘Whoa, is this really real life?'” I was shocked by two records of her. Of course, I still am that.

When asked why she didn’t sign him to Minaj’s Heavy On It Records, Ice replied that he was already a signed artist at the time she was trying to sign him, which is where the communication issues arose. At that point, there was no longer any room for a new deal.

Last year, a snag appeared to have hit their relationship when Baby Storme — who claimed to be Ice Spice’s best friend — leaked screenshots of Ice Spice allegedly calling Minaj “ungrateful and delusional.” In her subsequent Rolling Stone cover story, Ice revealed that the texts originated “in a moment of frustration” during contract negotiations and acknowledged that she “could have selected alternative words.”

“The artist stated that regardless of my personal feelings at the time, Nicki is still someone I have a lot of respect for as an artist, and I will always admire what she has done for me and the culture.”
