GIVEON – RATHER BE

GIVEON RATHER BE

GIVEON, the R&B/soul sensation, is quietly gearing up for a comeback, suggesting he is poised to reclaim his spot in the industry. He is using a modified formula to tap into his vintage collection of musical ideas. The native of Long Beach, California is also emotionally invested in the process, as evident in a song titled “RATHER BE.”

This is his second single to be released this year, with “TWENTIES” having come out beforehand. GIVEON’s forthcoming album is expected to feature both, pending an official announcement.

“RATHER BE,” a track produced by Sevn Thomas, Jahaan Sweet, Matthew Burnett, Maneesh Bidaye, and Jeff “Gitty” Gitelman, features a 30-year-old artist reminiscing about a past romantic connection.

He’s openly asking her to rejoin him, confessing that she was meant to be with him. The lyrics “Rather be a fool than believe in someone new / I’d rather be with you / Than the other half of someone who’s not even half of you” are sung with great intensity by GIVEON in the chorus.

The phrase “RATHER BE” is simply another chapter in the larger narrative that the author wants to share. The two singles have us thoroughly captivated by what appears to be an emotional rollercoaster.

It would be encouraging if GIVEON were to release a new album before too long. It has been almost three years since he released his last studio album, Give Or Take. Take a look at “RATHER BE” below.
