Fave Asks Promoters About Cancellation Of Birthday Concert During Ramadan

Nigerian singer Chidozie Godsfavour Ugochinyere, known as Fave, has sparked discussions online after questioning why promoters are advising against her plans to hold a birthday concert in Nigeria due to Ramadan.

Fave had intended to hold her first headline show on her birthday, March 13, 2026. However, these plans faced challenges due to promoters’ concerns about the timing of the event.

Reports indicate that Ramadan in 2026 is anticipated to take place from February 18 to March 19, which overlaps with Fave’s planned concert date. She mentioned that this overlap is the reason promoters have repeatedly suggested postponing the show.

On social media, Fave expressed her surprise regarding the situation, mentioning that she had not previously encountered such limitations.

“So I was trying to do a show in Nigeria on my birthday this year, but they’re telling me shows aren’t allowed during Ramadan? I’m a little confused,”

she tweeted.

In a subsequent post, Fave, who identifies as a Christian and was raised in southern Nigeria, shared that she became aware of Ramadan only later in life. While she emphasized her respect for all faiths, she expressed a desire to celebrate her birthday with a live performance.

“I started this year wanting to do my first show in Nigeria on my birthday as an independent artist, and back-to-back, promoters kept sending word to my team saying the same thing.

I grew up in the south and never heard of Ramadan practices till I was in my late teens. I respect all religions. But I’m Christian, and I really want to do this on my birthday, so if you’re reading this and are open to organizing, I’d be so happy.”

Her remarks have elicited mixed responses online, with some fans backing her desire to perform on her birthday while others pointed out the sensitivity surrounding the scheduling of entertainment events during the holy month.

It remains to be seen if Fave will secure a promoter willing to support the show or if she will need to reconsider the timing of this significant event in her career.
