Michael Jackson’s large-screen biographical film is already taking shape as something exceptionally unique. The first trailer for Michael was released on Thursday, November 6. Jaafar Jackson, nephew of the King of Pop, is recreating some of his most iconic moments.

The synopsis of the film outlines Michael Jackson’s life, focusing on his experiences outside of music and detailing his evolution from a member of the Jackson 5 with exceptional talent to a driven artist with ambitions that propelled him to become the world’s most renowned entertainer.

The film provides a unique glimpse into Michael Jackson’s life, both on and off stage, through some of his most memorable performances from the beginning of his solo career. Here is where his narrative commences. The biopic, directed by Antoine Fuqua, will also feature Juliano Krue Valdi in the role of young Michael.

Completing the cast, Colman Domingo will portray Joe Jackson, Michael’s father and long-time manager, alongside Nia Long as his mother, Katherine Jackson. Joining them are Kat Graham as Diana Ross and Miles Teller as John Branca, the latter of whom served as the late pop star’s lawyer and manager.

The film’s soundtrack will likely feature Michael’s music prominently, but the trailer has already provided a preview with the inclusion of two iconic tracks: “Thriller” and “Wanna Be Startin’ Somethin’.” Watch it below.
