Nigerian rapper and social activist Folarin Falana, known as Falz, has called for President Bola Tinubu to resign in light of the deteriorating security situation in the country.

This call follows recent incidents, including the abduction of 25 students from Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School in Kebbi State, the killing of Brigadier General Musa Uba in Borno State, and an attack by terrorists on a branch of the Christ Apostolic Church in Kwara State.

Falz made his statement on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, on the platform X, referencing a 2014 tweet in which the then-opposition leader Tinubu demanded former President Goodluck Jonathan’s resignation due to similar security concerns.

Quoting Tinubu’s earlier remarks, Falz stated, “You have consistently shown your unwillingness to protect the lives and property of our people despite pretending to care in the past. RESIGN NOW!”

The original 2014 tweet, posted shortly after the abduction of the Chibok schoolgirls, questioned why any part of the country should be under occupation, stating, “In any civilized country, Jonathan should resign.”

Tinubu had made comparable remarks earlier that year in a speech in Ilorin, criticizing the Jonathan administration for its handling of the Boko Haram insurgency, highlighting the plight of displaced persons and alleging dishonesty and incompetence.

He questioned the reason for any Nigerian territory being under siege by insurgents, declaring, “If you control the armed forces and you are the Commander-in-Chief… why should any part of this country be under occupation? In any civilized country, Jonathan should resign.”

Falz’s comments come amid increasing national concern over recent violent incidents, with the killings and abductions in Kebbi, as well as the attack on the church in Kwara State, intensifying fears about rising insecurity under the current leadership.

The rapper’s remarks resonate with growing international focus on Nigeria’s security issues. Just a day prior, American rapper Nicki Minaj, alongside US Ambassador to the UN Michael Waltz, spoke at the United Nations, urging immediate action to safeguard Nigerian Christians from persecution, while emphasizing themes of peace, unity, and freedom of worship, and recognizing former US President Donald Trump for highlighting these matters.
