On December 12, Ebro Darden announced the cancellation of his HOT 97 show, leading to disappointment among many fans of “Ebro in the Morning.” However, Drake did not appear to share this sentiment.

In response to a video in which Darden explained the show’s end, posted by Toronto outlet @keep6ixsolid, Drake commented with an axe emoji. Darden later accused Drake of adopting conservative views, stating, “Drake is ‘right wing.’”

According to Complex, Darden suggested that HOT 97 decided to discontinue his show because they wanted to suppress his progressive opinions against figures like Netanyahu and the government. He further claimed that the station’s owners were more concerned with monetary gain than with Hip Hop or Black music.

Darden commented, “They give a f**k about access… They’ve been trying to get to me for years.”

Throughout the run of “Ebro in the Morning,” Darden has made headlines for controversial statements, including remarks about Tinashe’s name and predictions concerning the future of mumble rap artists.

Some listeners have anticipated Darden’s professional decline, despite his history of notable interviews with artists such as Vince Staples and Lil Yachty.

Darden and Drake have had a contentious relationship for some time. In 2023, Darden criticized Drake during Apple Music’s “Rap Life Review,” stating that the artist has not addressed societal issues affecting Black communities beyond his personal experiences.
