dvsn – Excited / Love On You

Immediately following their signing to Jermaine Dupri’s So So Def Recordings label in conjunction with HYBE, dvsn has recently released two new singles, titled “Excited” and “Love On You.” This is the duo’s first release in a while, with Daniel Daley and producer Nineteen85 showing no signs of decline in their songwriting and production skills.

The Working On My Karma artists began by creating a sultry and lustful track that featured slow-burning drums and an engagingly warbled vocal sample. While soaring synths and other embellishments add depth, the melody remains the central focus. Fans adore this straightforward approach, which is precisely why they enjoy their work, even in less conventional settings such as their Home For The Holidays 2 releases.

Thanks to bass-heavy staccato synth hits, light chords, and more falsetto vocal deliveries, “Love On You” has a slightly more upbeat and carefree feel. The “Don’t Take Your Love” duo brought in some skilled background vocalists for this project as well. This cut’s more laid-back tune effectively contrasts with “Excited” to create a very tender return to form.

Notwithstanding that, we’re eager to see what dvsn and Jermaine Dupri have in store next, given the chemistry they’ve already developed from their past collaborations. This time around, Dupri’s contribution to these songs appears to be minimal, but a label switch often generates interest. We’ll see if there’s a full album in the works or additional singles to satisfy fan demand.
